1x03 was a very different episode then the previous two.
First off, it seemed there was more seriousness to things in this one. I like seeing how when the team has a timetable to work off of or horrible things will happen, that they put the joks away for a minute and work to achieve and to achieve quickly.
Pop culture refrences were big in this episode as well. Previous episodes only had a few. I liked how most of them are better known refrences. The only thing you have to watch out about is making these refrences and some people now having a clue of what is being talked about. Like the 'Lost' refrence made about the smoke monster. It is a damn good thing I watch 'Lost', or I'd probably be complaining about it.
After their little feud in the previous episode, it was nice to see how what the team shows on the inside, isn't what they are showing on the outside. Frank cares, even though it is attempted to make known that he is acting like a jerk to Tyler instead. What was well played is how Frank didn't even realize he was doing it. When he overheard Mike and Tyler talking, I think it may make him try to act kinder to Tyler in the next episode and beyond.
Also, Corinne and Tyler appear to be blossoming a relationship here. I'm wonder if things will ever start to heat beween the two... if you know what I mean...
