Now I know what exactly all of this hype is about! The first episode of Night Stalker was written amazingly. Like I've been told, whether you've seen the original series or not, you can still understand and enjoy the series/episodes. I've never seen the original series, so I was sceptical. But, I'm happy to say that this is an amazing pilot, and from right off the bat, has quite a bit of potential.
Having already established characters was what Iwas most concerned about. I wondered whether or not the characters would at least be drawn out and explained a bit, showing off personality traits, etc. When I saw how well this was done, it made me feel like I've known of these characters forever.
To both start and end the script, we had some voice overs from Kolchak. Unlike others, I'm personally a fan of voice overs, as long as they are written correctly, which I feel in this case, they were 110%. I loved the idea with the bold words. Just to see what words are standing out gives you more ideas for the future in your head.
I feel like from the moment I started reading, I thought this show had some great potential to be nearly anything. If it was a real killer, or something supernatural, I felt like the show could embrace it and do whatever it wanted, and succeed. After finishing this pilot, I still stand by that. It makes all the more excited to get caught up with both Season 1.5 and Season 2!
